Privacy policy
The short version: your photos, notes and sketches stay on your devices and in your own private iCloud. We never see them. The app sends anonymous usage counts so we know which tools are used, with nothing that identifies you. There are no accounts and no ads. The website's tools run in your browser, never upload your photo, and send only anonymous counts of a few actions, such as a download.
Who we are
Paintsight is made by SGWNI ("we", "us"). Questions: hello@paintsight.app.
The website
The free tools on this site (the value study maker, the palette and the drawing grid maker) run entirely in your browser. The photo you choose is processed on your device and isn't uploaded. Your tool settings may be saved in your browser so they're there next time.
The portrait references are copies of museum images kept on this site, so looking at them sends nothing to the museums.
So we know which tools are used, the tools count a few actions: opening a photo, changing a setting such as the number of values, downloading a result, copying a color code, and tapping a link to the App Store. Each count carries the action, the page, the setting chosen and your country, worked out from the connection. It carries no identifier, no cookie, nothing about your photo, and not your IP address or browser details. The counts go to our own server on Cloudflare and are kept in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. Cloudflare hosts the site and, like any web host, handles the connection needed to serve pages.
The app: your photos and notes
Paintsight stores the reference photos you add, with their tags, notes, sketches, crops and settings. All photo processing happens on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, your library is also synced between your devices in your private iCloud database. That data belongs to your Apple Account and we can't access it. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Camera and photo library
Used only when you choose to take a photo or import one. Paintsight reads the photos you pick and nothing else.
Anonymous usage counts
The app uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count things such as how often the library or a tool is opened, a photo is added or the unlock screen is shown. Each signal carries an anonymous identifier that TelemetryDeck hashes on your device, the app and system version, the device model and language, and a few counts. It never includes your photos, notes, name, email or location, and it isn't used for advertising or shared with anyone else.
Purchases
The unlimited-photos unlock is sold by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details.
What we don't do
- We don't show adverts or use advertising identifiers.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't use your photos or data to train AI models.
- We don't sell or share personal information.
Deleting your data
Delete photos in the app. To delete everything, delete the app, and remove the iCloud copy in Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Storage, Paintsight.
Your rights
We don't hold personal information about you, so there's nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have a question, email us. In the UK you can also contact the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
Paintsight is a general art app. It doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date above. If the app ever starts sending your data anywhere new, we'll say so here and in the app first.
