The portrait references on this site are photographs of public-domain works, published by the museums that hold them.

We use only images the museum itself marks as public domain, under CC0 or the Public Domain Mark, and keep each work's museum record with it. The value studies and palettes are worked out from those images by the same code as the free tools on this site.

Guides and tools

Each guide lists its own sources at the end. The free tools use the Paintsight app's own maths, and the test suite checks them against the app's answers.
